Russia’s Rosatom to ink deal on Iran's Bushehr 2nd stage by 2015
MOSCOW, Jun 23 (PRIME) -- Russian nuclear power corporation Rosatom plans to sign a contract to build two more units at Iran’s Bushehr nuclear power plant by the end of this year, Rosatom’s CEO Sergei Kiriyenko told reporters on Monday.
“We expect that we will step forward to finally signing supplements to the intergovernmental agreement and relevant contracts by the end of the year,” Kiriyenko said, adding that talks are still continuing.
Terms for the construction of the new units will be also defined by the end of the year, Kiriyenko also said.
The first, 1,000-megawatt unit built by Rosatom’s subsidiary Atomstroyexport is already operating at Iran’s first nuclear plant. Construction of the plant began in 1975 by German engineering company Siemens, and Russian engineers took over in the 1990s.
